Hong Kong Prize 2024 Winners Announced

The organizer of hk prize says young researchers are vital to technological innovation in Hong Kong and China, and this year’s winners of the “Most promising young researcher” award have demonstrated that commitment. The award is designed to inspire young researchers and provide them with an excellent platform for promoting their work.

HK’s leading philanthropists and business leaders congratulate the winners of this year’s hk prize, and call for more support to help Hong Kong’s youth. The hk prize champions changemakers who are advancing education in a rapidly changing world and preparing the next generation for an uncertain future. The 2024 laureates have received a total of HK$30 million (about US$3.8 million) in award money, half of which is an unrestricted project fund to scale their work.

Organised by the Hong Kong Alliance of Technology and Innovation, the hk prize is an annual competition to reward outstanding scientific research conducted in Hong Kong. The prize was established in 2004 and is one of the most prestigious prizes in Hong Kong. The hk prize has been awarded to more than 80 scientists in recent years, and it’s intended to encourage young researchers to continue their efforts in Hong Kong.

The prize is supported by the Hong Kong Jockey Club, and this year’s winner will take home a hefty sum of money. The top winner will collect a cheque worth $2m, with the runner-up picking up an amount of around $1m. There will also be a bonus incentive for trainers, with a total of HK$200,000 to the winning trainer and a further HK$100,000 going to the runner-up.

The prize is an important initiative for enhancing global understanding of Hong Kong and its role on the international stage. It also aims to encourage dialogue and collaboration between scholars and students of Hong Kong studies, thereby helping them develop new theories and concepts, and exploring different ways to study the city and its relations with China, Asia and beyond. Moreover, the prize helps to foster research into topics related to Hong Kong and its history, politics and society, and promote the development of a new paradigm for studying Hong Kong and its relations with China, Asia and the rest of the world. It’s an honourable award and we wish the winners every success in their future endeavours. We are proud to be the sponsor of this prestigious award. We look forward to continuing our long-term partnership with the hk prize.
